Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how The Keyboard Cup (the “Service”), operated on behalf of Holland Township School (the “School”), collects, uses, and shares information when you use this website and related features.

1. Who this applies to

This policy applies to visitors and registered users of the Service, including students and staff who sign in with a permitted Google Workspace account where that option is enabled.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may process:

  • Account and profile information. If you use Google Sign-In, we receive information that Google shares with the application as part of that sign-in flow (for example, your name, email address, and profile picture URL), limited to what is necessary to create and maintain your account.
  • Activity and performance data. Typing practice results, speed test scores, leaderboard entries, lesson progress, and similar usage data associated with your account when you are signed in.
  • Technical data. Standard server and security information such as IP address, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, device type, timestamps, and diagnostic logs needed to operate and secure the Service.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Session cookies or similar technologies used to keep you signed in, protect against cross-site request forgery, and remember essential preferences. Third-party scripts loaded for Google Sign-In may set or read cookies according to Google’s policies.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service (including practice lessons, tests, and leaderboards);
  • Authenticate users and prevent unauthorized access;
  • Monitor reliability and security, and troubleshoot issues;
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Legal bases (where applicable)

Where required by law (for example, in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom), we rely on appropriate bases such as performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating an educational typing program (balanced against your rights), compliance with legal obligations, and, where needed, consent.

5. Sharing of information

We may share information with service providers that host the site, store data, or provide infrastructure, strictly as needed to run the Service. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a school-directed educational program. Leaderboard or similar features may display limited profile information (such as display name) to other users as part of the Service.

6. Google Sign-In

Sign-in with Google is subject to Google’s terms and privacy policy. Google’s privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy. We use Google only to authenticate you and receive basic profile details as described above.

7. Children and students

The Service is intended for use in a school context. Where children’s personal information is collected, the School may rely on consent obtained through the school or applicable educational authorizations. Parents or guardians with questions should contact the School administration.

8. Data retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, or reporting requirements, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Retention periods may be determined by the School.

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate, which may have different data protection laws.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact the School administration. If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.

13. Contact

For privacy questions about this Service, contact Holland Township School through the official school contact channels published by the School.
